Andy LaPlegua's most notorious project, Combichrist is perhaps the angriest and most aggressive act on the industrial dance scene today, so much so as to become a caricature of the genre. Just a quick scan of Combichrist's song titles should suggest that this is no Icon Of Coil.

Combichrist takes the aggression and repetitive beats of EBM to an extreme, with melodic progression throughout a song that can almost be described as trance-influenced, in structure if not in sound. The distorted bass kick that drives many songs shows a clear influence from Rotterdam hardcore and gabber. Lyrics are openly hostile and explicit, but the vocals are fairly sparse, highlighting the music in short clips and rarely forming traditional verses. For example, the lyrics of "God Bless" consist largely of a distorted female voice reading a list of serial killers' names to the beat of the song.

Combichrist's extreme image, elaborate costuming and hardcore lyrics have made them one of the most popular and energetic live acts on the darktronica scene, and has inspired a fiercely loyal band of fans known as the Combichrist Army; their sudden explosion in popularity has been strikingly similar in method to the rise of Slipknot onto the metal scene in the late 1990s.

Darktronica favorites are "Winteryear," "Tractor," "This Is My Rifle," and "This Shit Will Fuck You Up."
