Aesthetic Perfection

Genre: Industrial Dance
Origin: Los Angeles, USA
Status: Active
After touring recently with Imperative Reaction and [:SITD:] as Aesthetic Perfection, and backing up De/Vision with his kinder, gentler side project Necessary Response, it's a wonder that Daniel Graves has any time at all to crank out new material. The relentless travel is paying off, however, as both Aesthetic Perfection and Necessary Response continue to gather momentum in the dark music scene.
Aesthetic Perfection is Graves' original endeavor, a terror EBM project bursting at the seams with harsh aggression and pounding beats. Vocals are mostly distorted and tortured in the standard style, and combine with the usual accoutrement of overdriven kicks, synth lines, and occasional samples that brings to mind a slightly brighter, more danceable version of bands like Hocico.
It is perhaps somewhat fitting that a project called Aesthetic Perfection would be a bit formulaic, but don't misunderstand that adjective as implying low-quality. The album A Violent Emotion beat out solid competition for a spot on Darktronica's Top 10 list for 2008, so this is still definitely music worth checking out. Favorites here include "Spit It Out," "The Great Depression," and "Architect."
