French industrial metal group The CNK (Cosa Nostra Klub) has gone through several name changes, releasing their demos under the name Count Nosferatu and their debut album Ultraviolence Über Alles as Count Nosferatu Kommando. Apparently this was not enough, but they liked the CNK motif and stuck with it when reinventing their image as The Cosa Nostra Klub for their latest album, 2007's L'Hymne À La Joie.
In keeping with the ever-changing monikers, The CNK has also evolved their sound with each album. Their demos were extreme black metal affairs, with symphonic influences that foreshadowed their evolution on Ultraviolence, which falls in between the symphonic black metal of Dimmu Borgir and industrial metal acts like Red Harvest. Songs still heavily feature metallic riffs, blast beats and shrieking black metal vocals, but also add distorted vocal passages and programmed electronic elements.
