:Of The Wand & The Moon:

Genre: Neo-Folk
Origin: Denmark
Status: Active
One of the most representative bands of the post-industrial, neo-folk genre, :Of The Wand & The Moon: is the project of Kim Larsen, formerly of doom metal band Saturnus (not to be confused with Kim Larsen from Danish rock group Gasolin', though both are from Denmark).
A good number of death metal and doom metal groups have experimented with darkly ambient, acoustic albums, some of the most noted being Agalloch, Ulver, Borknagar, and Empyrium. But few carry on the transition to its logical conclusion like Kim Larsen has done, making a new career out of seductively beautiful and subtly dark compositions centered around softly-whispered vocals and acoustic guitar, but complemented by a host of aboriginal instruments and electronic atmospherics. It's really quite compelling, even to fans of generally heavier music.
:Of The Wand & The Moon: lyrically has ties to nature and Germanic paganism, romance and loss. Darktronica favorites are "Raven Chant," "Here's To Misery (A Toast)," and "Wintry Mantle."
