Reverend Bizarre is doom at its slowest and most grinding, full of sludgy, drawn-out guitar riffs, drum solos, and bleak, dolorous vocals. Fans of traditional doom bands like St. Vitus will definitely approve; for those unfamiliar with the genre, imagine taking some of the slower tunes from Type O Negative's October Rust or World Coming Down albums, making them twice as slow and plodding, and retuning them down another half an octave. Most songs are well over ten minutes long, with some stretching past the twenty-minute mark.
Reverend Bizarre recently announced their retirement after the release of their final album, the aptly named So Long Suckers. With their farewell, along with the recent breakup of Khanate, it's getting harder and harder to find good new traditional doom.
Darktronica favorites are "The Wandering Jew" and "The Hour Of Death."
